Science communication is important in today's technologically advanced society. A good part of the adult community is not science savvy and lacks the background to make sense of rapidly changing technology. My blog attempts to help by publishing articles of general interest in an easy to read and understand format without using mathematics. You can contact me at ektalks@yahoo.co.uk

Nanotechnology for All-The Digital Revolution (Talk 5)

The modern connected world has come about due to the digital revolution over the past 100 years or so.  Before the understanding of electro-magnetic waves and the experiments of Hertz to establish their existence, communication was very limited - it was slow and only local.  Computers made a tremendous difference to the way we process information - given boost by the discovery of transistors in 1947.  Miniaturization has proceeded relentlessly since then and we are truly in the nanotechnology regime now.

It all started with Fleming...

The integration of electronic devices with biology is something that I want to address in a separate blog.  Progress in this direction has been spectacular and what the future impact of intelligent robots, artificial intelligence will be on our civilization is somewhat uncertain.
